| 01:02:41 | johnsom | FYI, the dependent patch for the Octavia SDK updates has now merged. so the chain starting at https://review.openstack.org/#/c/634010 just need a second +2 | |
| 01:32:50 | openstackgerrit | Merged openstack/osc-lib master: Change openstack-dev to openstack-discuss https://review.openstack.org/622433 | |
| 10:01:33 | frickler | why does that location look so munched? is that a known issue? seen on a fresh devstack deployment http://paste.openstack.org/show/744909/ | |
| 11:31:16 | frickler | seems related to openstacksdk==0.24.0, don't see this with 0.23.0 | |
| 11:37:59 | frickler | mordred: Shrews: git bisect blames https://review.openstack.org/626380 ^^ it seems to show up for all objects from the network api at least | |
| 12:28:45 | openstackgerrit | Vlad Gusev proposed openstack/python-openstackclient master: Add support for get details of Quota https://review.openstack.org/515401 | |
| 13:56:14 | mordred | frickler: it's a field that we added to all objects in shade, and that patch pushed it down into the sdk layer | |
| 13:56:30 | mordred | frickler: we should potentially teach osc about rendering it prettier? | |
| 14:00:31 | frickler | mordred: I'm wondering whether it is useful to a CLI user at all, maybe osc should just discard it? | |
| 14:01:04 | mordred | frickler: yeah - maybe so? | |
| 14:02:31 | frickler | mordred: certainly for stuff that isn't related to a project at all like this http://paste.openstack.org/show/744939/ | |
| 14:03:26 | mordred | ++ | |
| 18:08:35 | cdent | elmiko, edleafe : api-sig batsignal! see openstack-discuss | |
| 18:09:01 | edleafe | knee deep in something else, but will look soon | |
| 18:51:24 | elmiko | cdent: ack | |
| 18:51:38 | elmiko | less than one hour latency, not too shabby XD | |
| 18:53:10 | cdent | elmiko, well you had to get up from what you were doing, press they keys on the piano, go down in the cave, warm up the car, drive through the ice and snow. so an hour is not too bad | |
| 18:57:06 | elmiko | hahaha, indeed! | |
| 18:57:39 | elmiko | cdent: i'm assuming you were referring to this nova question about return codes? | |
| 18:58:12 | cdent | elmiko: yes | |
| 18:58:43 | elmiko | cool, thanks for the heads up, i left my opinion =) | |
| 20:20:03 | mmdurrant | I'm seeing some `__version__`-related import errors trying to use openstacksdk on a mitaka setup. Can anyone recommend the version to use? I was told 0.12.0 for newton, about to give that a try but wanted to check here first. | |
| 20:22:56 | mordred | mmdurrant: it depends on whether you're just using it as a library, or also want to use python-openstackclient CLI with it and need the older version of OSC | |
| 20:23:15 | mmdurrant | mordred: Thank you for clarifying my thought, yeah I need to use it w/ openstackclient | |
| 20:23:32 | mordred | mmdurrant: the most recent SDK and OSC should actually work with mitaka openstack - we support the older API versions | |
| 20:23:49 | mordred | but - if you're installing this on the same machiens as the openstack, then library dependencies could become quite in conflict | |
| 20:23:54 | mmdurrant | Hm - I'll give that a try, thanks | |
| 20:24:14 | mmdurrant | Part of the problem is I'm trying to devstack a mitaka node and I know I'd 99% have better luck if I just did the "all in one manual install" | |
| 20:24:57 | mmdurrant | Thank you | |
| 20:25:00 | mordred | yeah - devstacking a mitaka node these days is hard (I have similar desires so that we can test master of sdk against mitaka - but it was too hard so I gave up) | |
| 20:25:28 | mmdurrant | I'm starting to think manually building an ubuntu 14 node with services bound to 0.0.0.0 and snapshotting is my best bet | |
| 20:25:36 | mmdurrant | Then I can have a mitaka node whenever I want | |
| 20:25:38 | mordred | latest osc/sdk on the same node as you are devstacking the mitaka will likely break things - and in that case I'd recommend older of both | |
| 20:25:44 | mordred | mmdurrant: ++ | |
| 20:26:02 | mmdurrant | THANKS I had a bell ringing in my brain about why that wouldn't work and that was it | |
| 20:26:18 | mordred | yeah - if you can just install that and snapshot it - then you should be able to use sdk/osc from a different node and it should all "just work" | |
| 20:26:26 | mordred | yah | |
| 20:26:55 | mordred | osc depends on python-*client still - which the services also depend on - so latest osc will bring in more recent python-novaclient which will almost certainly break mitaka nova | |

| 07:28:41 | whoami-rajat | mordred dtroyer amotoki Hi, i was running tox in bionic env and found out the tox.ini doesn't has an entry for py36, (the entry exists in setup.cfg). I've manually added py36 but i also have put up a patch for it [1] . I think as per stein goals we should only have py36 but keeping in mind the xenial env, i haven't removed py35. please take a look. Thanks. | |
| 07:28:41 | whoami-rajat | [1] https://review.openstack.org/#/c/636559/ | |
| 08:21:24 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: you can run py36 tests by "tox -e py36". | |
| 08:22:15 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: AFAIK we usually do not have an env with both py35 and py36. | |
| 08:25:56 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: envlist defines default envs, so for example in xenial env, your change would lead to always failures due to the lack of py36.... | |
| 08:26:36 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: envlist is not a requirement to achieve the stein goal. we already run openstack-tox-py36 in the gate. | |
| 08:30:01 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: I haven't prepared bionic env. Does py35 env exist on bionic? | |
| 08:30:57 | amotoki | whoami-rajat: I am okay with either. persoanlly I always run "tox -e <env>" and never use just "txo" :p | |
| 09:07:01 | whoami-rajat | amotoki: what my patch is currently doing is running it against py36, if interpreter not found then running it against py35 (which would run in xenial). I wasn't sure if we wanted to keep compatibility with xenial so left the py35 as it is. | |
| 09:07:01 | whoami-rajat | Sean stated py36 as the primary targer for stein here [1]. | |
| 09:07:02 | whoami-rajat | py35 env doesn't exist in bionic hence the warning i mentioned in my patch occurred. | |
| 09:07:02 | whoami-rajat | i also prefer tox -e <env> but for clients i use tox directly :) | |
