17:32:51 johnsom Yeah, so sounds like an RFE
17:32:52 sean-k-mooney and then never touch it again
17:33:43 sean-k-mooney yep thats why i closed it as invlaid but even as an RFE request without more context im not really seing a usecase that would entiese me to add this to nova
17:34:02 sean-k-mooney it in the nova should not do netowrking or orchstration bucket for me
17:34:32 johnsom Oh, now there is a statement! grin
17:34:35 sean-k-mooney partly because if we do we will likely get it wrong form someones perspective

03:24:09 melwitt jkulik: at the time of that doc writing there wasn't any real world usage of the API, so it was more likely that it may need to change based on feedback from real users. glance (https://docs.openstack.org/glance/latest/admin/quotas.html) and nova are the first implementations using the API and at this point it's possible that the keystone doc could be updated to remove the "experimental" label (would have to confirm with keystone team).
03:24:09 melwitt it is not intended to have to upgrade in lockstep
09:12:07 obre Are the creation of blueprint something done through a git-repo (like specs) or is it simply through the web-page at https://blueprints.launchpad.net/nova ?
09:14:29 obre bauzas: ^
09:15:00 bauzas obre: wait a sec, giving you a doc
09:15:48 kashyap obre: The short answer is simply through the web page :)
10:18:52 bauzas obre: sorry I had another urgency
10:22:56 bauzas obre: so, https://docs.openstack.org/nova/latest/contributor/blueprints.html
10:23:38 bauzas that means you need to create a blueprint but you also need to provide a change in the nova-specs repository
10:23:53 bauzas obre: we have a template for a spec https://specs.openstack.org/openstack/nova-specs/specs/2023.1/template.html
10:25:41 bauzas obre: the nova-specs project is https://github.com/openstack/nova-specs/
10:25:57 bauzas as you can see, each spec is basically just a RST document
10:26:23 bauzas one example can be https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova-specs/+/840310
10:27:09 bauzas you need to add a file in specs/antelope/approved/
10:27:31 bauzas if we merge the change, then it will have the spec in antelope/approved
10:27:50 bauzas voila, that's it
11:23:39 opendevreview Rajesh Tailor proposed openstack/nova master: Fix typos in nova docs https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/858673

00:38:34 opendevreview melanie witt proposed openstack/nova master: zuul: Add devstack-plugin-nfs-tempest-full to the check queue https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/781139
00:38:34 opendevreview melanie witt proposed openstack/nova master: libvirt: stop using connection_info for NFS file format https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/858836
06:51:56 opendevreview Eigil Obrestad proposed openstack/nova-specs master: Compute Inventory Customization https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova-specs/+/858858
06:52:50 obre bauzas: Does the following spec/blueprint make sense for you? ^
06:53:55 obre Ill tried my best to follow your process, but Ill never done anythng like this before; so I would happily accept any guiding if there are things Im doing wrong.
06:54:25 obre And; the progress are a bit slow as I am doing this work between other duties.
07:15:29 gibi obre: o/ I'm reading the spec now
07:20:36 gibi and dont worry about progress, you proposed the spec quickly so we still remember the context from tuesday, and it is the good time in the cycle to propose specs :)
07:22:13 obre Also; Zuul doesnt like some whitespaces on the end of lines in the spec. When fixing this; do I create a new commit, or ammend to the existing one? So; "git add, git commit, git review" or "git add, git commit --amend, git review" or something else?
07:27:34 gibi obre: amned the exisiting commit. Gerrit uses the Change-Id to identify different versions of the same review
07:41:38 opendevreview Eigil Obrestad proposed openstack/nova-specs master: Compute Inventory Customization https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova-specs/+/858858
07:42:20 obre gibi: ack
07:54:48 gibi obre: I left feedback in the spec. I think we need a bit more details but agree with what you have written so far
07:55:20 gibi sean-k-mooney[m]: bauzas: ^^ that is an easy read to start the day with :)
08:05:26 bauzas obre: gibi: sorry, I'm on a meeting, but thanks for the spec, I'll look at it
08:07:59 obre bauzas: No need to say sorry. I am not able to be present here at all times, so I do not expect others to be present at all time either :P
08:14:52 gibi nah, everybody needs time to sleep ... at lest 4 hours a day :P
08:28:40 sean-k-mooney[m] left some comments
08:30:02 sean-k-mooney[m] i should proably get up now instead of lying in bed ya. casue its really comfy and soft and warm, but on the other had coffee is down stairs
08:31:49 gibi I think you set up the right motivation structure there :)
09:09:08 sean-k-mooney i made some bread while i was getting coffee too.
09:20:57 kashyap Toasted?
09:21:16 kashyap sean-k-mooney: Wait, you _made_ bread that quick?
09:21:26 kashyap No letting the dough rise? :)
09:21:34 kashyap (Unless it already "rose" overnight)
09:21:43 sean-k-mooney its currently proofing
09:21:57 sean-k-mooney alhtough if i was making irish soda bread it woudl be in the oven already
09:28:10 kashyap I hear first time of this "soda bread". Doesn't sound very appealing by the name of it, TBH :P
09:28:49 sean-k-mooney its what i think of as bread and i think of yeast bread as french bread in my head
09:29:17 sean-k-mooney kashyap: no yeast you use bread soda/baking soda and butter milk instead
09:29:27 kashyap I see
09:29:30 kashyap Oh, like that, I see
09:29:40 sean-k-mooney the butter milk is acidic and the bread soda is basica so it release co2
09:30:04 sean-k-mooney so you just mix it up put it in the oven and it rise as it bakes
09:31:27 sean-k-mooney often we put fruit or oats in it and it can be white or brown although tradtionaly its brown just because that was the type of flour that was most avaiable
09:32:08 sean-k-mooney https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/irish_soda_bread/
09:37:03 kashyap sean-k-mooney: Thank you! (I still don't have an oven, I'm afraid. "Once I move" - I keep telling myself)
09:38:58 sean-k-mooney hehe i have two. when i was buying a micorwave for my house i got one that is also an oven and a grill and has a dough proving setting :)
09:39:24 sean-k-mooney i dont use the other fucntionst that often but its nice to have the option
09:40:21 sean-k-mooney hehe so you missed the part where i creditis all yest breads to france ya :P
09:41:07 sean-k-mooney in ireland i always associated yeast breads with thing you get form a bakery or store and home mande bread is soda bread
09:41:52 sean-k-mooney that not entirly true of course, there are irish yest bread but if your making bread with kids ectra or you by bread mixes in irland they dont normally use yeast
09:42:23 sean-k-mooney so yeast bread were always in my experince the more advanced/difficult breads to make
09:42:46 sean-k-mooney now that i have got used to them its arguable simpler just takes more time
09:45:58 sean-k-mooney i made these for emmas house warming last weekend https://photos.app.goo.gl/HMXtgFFKL6cvKAc46
09:59:05 bauzas sean-k-mooney: awesome work
10:00:42 sean-k-mooney the last one is still technialy bread and not pastry. its a brioche cinnamon nut sticky bun rather then a danish style pastery
10:00:56 sean-k-mooney with a honney butter glaze
10:02:29 sean-k-mooney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlzmsTiOJnU i adapted that because i was out of maple if you want to try them they were really tasty
10:02:44 bauzas :)
10:03:09 bauzas I don't usually make my own bread but did it a couple of times
10:03:36 bauzas this is just, bread is cheap here compared to the time it takes to make it
10:04:02 bauzas also, the white bread is slightly different from the one I can do
10:04:08 bauzas because of the yeast
10:04:29 bauzas and the flour
10:04:33 sean-k-mooney yep even ehere its not that expensive
10:04:51 sean-k-mooney ya we orderd special bread flour form a mill in bulk
10:05:25 bauzas yeah
10:05:40 bauzas people not having close bakeries do their own breads
10:06:07 bauzas for me, I have 3 different bakeries in a 1km area, and 10 more if I'm driving 5 mins
10:06:23 bauzas so...
10:06:51 bauzas sean-k-mooney: but anyway, your bread looked very nice
10:06:55 sean-k-mooney we got https://kellswholemeal.ie/product/native-purple-wheat-flour-12-5kg/ and https://kellswholemeal.ie/product/marriages-uppermost-flour-16kg/
10:07:02 bauzas in general, the homemade breads don't look like this
10:07:13 bauzas yours seems better looking
10:07:37 bauzas but I guess your shipping rates are expensive for sending to France :p
10:08:10 sean-k-mooney thanks i have only started making them this year emma has baked bread for years but i was afraid fo messing it up with yeast so never did
10:09:04 bauzas anyway, /me goes cooking for the kid
10:09:09 sean-k-mooney now if only nova had a feature that could make bread for me
10:09:22 bauzas sean-k-mooney: write a spec
10:09:23 sean-k-mooney maybe we could use flavors some how to model the recipe
10:09:45 sean-k-mooney we already know placment is good at trackign whats in your fridge
10:09:50 bauzas and we have placement for the ingredients
10:09:53 bauzas that
10:10:13 sean-k-mooney so we need a bread maker virt dirver to talk to a smart bread maker....
10:10:15 bauzas but, eventually, 3D-printing the bread doesn't seem a good opportunity
10:10:24 bauzas we need robots
