22:56:47 bauzas question : when a compute is down, Nova is still saying instances are ACTIVE, right ? If so, I guess it's a design consensus about not having Nova checking the hypervisors for knowing the VMs status, right?

23:57:47 tasker and, for comparison, I can't get migrate an instance to compute-1 (newton-trusty) from compute-3 (newton-xenial) -- but this attempt gives no error, no log, doesn't even attempt to claim resources. it's like the request gets lost between the API container and the compute host.
