18:09:36 openstackgerrit Ildiko Vancsa proposed openstack/nova master: Remove check_detach https://review.openstack.org/446671
18:09:36 openstackgerrit Ildiko Vancsa proposed openstack/nova master: Implement new attach Cinder flow https://review.openstack.org/330285
18:10:10 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: oops! please guide me to understand proper qemu for libvirt 1.3.5
18:10:44 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: well it looks like you have 2 issues 1st No compute node record for host fedora23-1046: ComputeHostNotFound_Remote: Compute host fedora23-1046 could not be found.
18:11:18 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: i resolved it now. its working fine now.
18:11:36 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: but 2nd issue is still pending ..
18:11:37 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: was that caused by cells?
18:11:50 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: no. we are using mitaka compute.
18:17:34 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: see this, https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/LibvirtDistroSupportMatrix I think 1.3.5 can be compatible with qemu 2.4
18:18:19 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: I aslo tried libvirt 1.3.5 with qemu 2.6 . it doesn't work well
18:19:13 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: it may be compatible on x86 not sure about arm. it may be down to how you compiled qemu
18:19:49 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: ok
18:20:12 sean-k-mooney are you deploying with devstack out of interest?
18:20:42 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: I'm using manual installation.
18:20:56 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: not using devstack
18:21:34 sean-k-mooney ah we wrote a devstack plugin to compile libvirt and qemu from source but i have not tested it on arm or we qemu and libvirt versions that old. https://github.com/openstack/devstack-plugin-libvirt-qemu.
18:22:19 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: it might still be good to compare how we do the compilation https://github.com/openstack/devstack-plugin-libvirt-qemu/blob/master/devstack/libs/libvirt and see if you did anything different
18:22:49 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: oh ok. but as you have said above. i require libvirt 1.3.5 and qemu 2.4
18:23:52 openstackgerrit Merged openstack/nova master: Make key_pairs use check_deltas() for quota https://review.openstack.org/477699
18:24:14 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: do you need exactly those version or are they the minium. fedroas rpms should actully be newer then that but if you are trying to reporduce an issue that wont help you.
18:25:31 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: agree. but libvirt 1.3.5 is mandatory.
18:25:48 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: but qemu can be something different above 2.2
18:27:53 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: it might be worth installing qemu from dnf then instead and see if it resolves the issue.
18:27:58 sean-k-mooney actully
18:28:14 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: do you have selinux enabled
18:28:30 sean-k-mooney its a long shot but that could be blocking the request
18:29:29 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: your main error though is internal error: No JSON parser implementation is available
18:29:43 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: SELinux status: disabled
18:29:48 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: that is why i taught it might be related to how you compiled libvirt
18:30:11 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: yes. True said. but I find no help from google on this.
18:30:26 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: so finally i have come here.
18:30:33 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: if you still have it i would check the configure output ans see if there is is any reference to json
18:32:49 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: sure. I'm currently rebuilding libvirt fresh with qemu 2.4 refering the devstack plugin link you have provided.
18:33:57 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: in our devstack pluging we do "yum-builddep -y libvirt" and "yum-builddep -y qemu" and then install libnuma-devel gcc make gettext-devel pkgconfig. my guess would be "yum-builddep -y libvirt" is installing a json lib and enableing json support when we run configure and you are missing the lib
18:36:20 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: yes true said. and its giving a parsing error
18:37:06 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: here is libvirt configure summary http://paste.openstack.org/show/616072/
18:39:00 melwitt dansmith: hm, I don't remember. maybe to make them match create_limit and update_limit, which I don't think were called from compute or non-db-having services in the first place either. but I need to think about it more
18:40:03 dansmith melwitt: well, if you can make them not remotable, then they don't need a version bump and we don't have to have an awkward conversation about the naughtyness that lies within :)
18:40:28 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: i think you are missing yajl
18:40:44 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: https://github.com/libvirt/libvirt/blob/e64f2fab920fe8a08e97b790cb5d959f3566aea3/m4/virt-yajl.m4#L24-L45
18:41:51 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: I need that lib installed before libvirt configure ?
18:41:57 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: i would try installing yajl-devel
18:42:05 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: yes
18:43:05 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: ok. doing that now.
18:43:16 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: just so you are aware without also installing libnuma-devel you will not be able to use hugepages or cpu pinning
18:43:58 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: agree.
18:45:06 melwitt dansmith: heh. I shall sanity check that. I expect they don't need to be remotable
18:45:11 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: its numactl-devel for fedora 23
18:46:11 dansmith melwitt: cool
18:46:49 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: ah i just have centos and ubunut vms to hand currently so i assumed it would be the same as centos
18:47:53 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: oh okay.
18:48:12 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: even yum is moved to dnf
18:49:13 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: yes i think you can use dnf on centos too. they have a compaitblity shim on fedora to allow yum to still work but dnf is faster at installing things
18:50:07 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: agree
18:54:33 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: anyway, that is my best quess of how to fix the issue. if you reconfig and recomiple then restart libvirtd then it might solve your issue
18:55:33 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: ok. re-configuring and re-compiling libvirt now.
18:55:57 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: i will share the configure summary in a while.
18:56:32 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: http://paste.openstack.org/show/616077/
18:57:25 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: well that looks a little better numa and yajl are now enabled.
18:57:53 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: yes. any more options/packages i need to enable to compile ?
18:59:30 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: from what i can see you should have enough libvires installed for it to work with openstack.
19:00:07 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: did i miss other libraries ?
19:00:10 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: if you want to use glsterfs or ceph you will need to install extra packages
19:01:21 sean-k-mooney trinaths1: but for a normal install i dont think you need any other packages
19:01:29 mriedem_afk ildikov: so i think we can remove handling VolumeUnattached from the rest api controller for delete
19:01:34 mriedem_afk (detach_volume)
19:04:25 trinaths1 sean-k-mooney: we did not more to ceph end. i have started re-compile of libvirt. I will update when its completed.
19:08:45 mriedem ildikov: ok comments inline
19:08:50 mriedem which are hopefully clear

19:17:18 ildikov mriedem: ah ok, I didn't get to the point of fully removing it from the previous comments as it wasn't introduced in check_detach
19:17:28 ildikov mriedem: thanks for the comments, I'll update the patch
19:17:45 ildikov mriedem: cleaning up is always good, so yeah, let's do it properly
19:17:46 mriedem jaypipes: i for one love trailing parans

20:56:48 dansmith jaypipes: I'm proud to have no idea what that is
20:56:52 jaypipes heh
20:58:02 melwitt I always thought power rangers were a rip off voltron
20:58:16 mriedem they are all a rip off of some thing that started in japan
20:58:19 mriedem and are all terrible
20:58:38 jangutter mriedem: "Voltron - The End" is amazing though.
