Hi all
The printer I have a problem is a HP LJ4050. Evidently the same thing =
also happens on a Brother HL1260. Both are fairly recent laser printers =
so would expect Arial to be a standard font?
Would expect this problem with different printers due margins and so on, =
according to customer's network chap they have installed the same =
printer driver onto all the machines.
I suppose the next step would be to create a report that prints A-Z and =
1-9 over and over in different fonts and see whether certain fonts line =
up. The report does not need to be Arial it just looks nice.
Is there anything else I can do to make this work?
Regards
Graham

What I have is an invoice form which prints onto Sage stationery, lines =
up perfectly on one pc but not on all the rest. I went out to the client =
to actually look at this myself just in case it as operator error and =
got the same. The pc that works is running 2k Pro, the ones that don't =
are a mix of 98 and Millennium.
ps Thanks for the replies about Win95, that is a big relief!!

I have a program I wrote using VFP8. Runs fine. VFP screen is off. main
screen is set to modal...As Top Level Form....desktop = .t.
When I build a project and then an EXE and run the EXE. The two reports
that can run from this screen preview fine inside the main form.
However, when I rebuild the project in VFP5 built the EXE and then run
it. Those same two reports will not show up. I click the button to click
the report. Everything fires...temp files get built. but there is no
report preview window.
Is this a problem in VFP 5? if so, does anyone know a way around it.

I'm not 100% about VFP 5, however, IIRC VFP 6 required, in your
situation, the use of the In Window clause on the Report Form command.

Alan:
VFP5 is getting to be pretty old. My copy (5.0a) is dated October 21,
1997, so it just turned seven. While an improvement over 3.0, it was
nowhere near as stable at 6.0. And each version since has improved
stability, new features and new developer tools.
Is there no way you can update the runtimes on your machines to VFP 7
or 8?
There were problems with reports when there was no visible _SCREEN in
VFP5, but I don't recall the workarounds off the top of my head.
Perhaps you should consider toggling _SCREEN.Visibile to .T. before you
try to preview the reports?

Well this just stinks. You have to define a window, activate etc, etc, etc.
Sounds like a good time to upgrade them to VFP8.........<s>
Thanks for the help.

To,
Hello Friends
I prepared TXT/PRN file through Report Form,
but I am facing problem. I set the following setting,
Set Grid Scale Horizontal = 5
Vertical = 8
Ruler Sale = Pixels
_Asciicols = 80 (At data enviroment INI trigger)
_Asciirows = 65 (At data enviroment INI trigger)
Now, when I run the report and prepared TEMP.TXT file then,
TXT file not proper created, some text write in next line.
Because, grid box prepared character wise, means if text
items width is 10 character then it set in 10 grid box.
Also please I want to know, suppose I want to header in
normal fonts and detail part in condense so how can possible ?
Pleas give me solution,
Thanking you,
Jignesh

I am having a problem with a report, which is actually an invoice.
Records are marked for the report, in the preview everything shows
right, but when printed, it only prints the first record, also the total
box in the summary band is blank. I have tried it with three separate
printers, all the same problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like you're in the wrong workarea when running the report. Or
perhaps a UDF in the degtail band is moving the record pointer.

Does anything change between the preview and the printing? The preview
always shows correct.

There was a 'bug' in VFP pertaining to a 'grids' recordsource. I don't know
if it's been fixed.
If you have a grid on the form when you call a REPORT FORM, and if the grid
currently has focus, the report will maybe print the 1st page correctly,
but then error out because the workarea gets reset to the grids recordsource.
The above may not be entirely accurate. But if you've got a grid that has
focus when you call the report, try setting focus to a button on the form
before the REPORT FORM call.
