Hi Everybody,
It is getting so that I can't see the text I am writing/editing in
Thunderbird. Can this be bigger on the screen, I mean without using
html text?
The $8 Spell Checker flags the typos, but I can't see the squiggly red
underlines because the screen font is too small for my monitor/glasses
combination.

Can you configure the spell checker squiggly line to be a different highlight?

Just hit 'Ctrl'+'+'.
ie Hold the ctrl key down then tap the + key, it should increase the
font size.

No. Might be able to in html, but I am trying to use text.

Hi Andrew,
Yeah - you would think. Doesn't work in the edit window, though. Unless,
as I said, you use html.
But I am trying to edit and compose in text.

Pete,
Do you have room for multiple monitors? Set one at a lower resolution and
move the window to it.
The Windows 7 tool Magnifier is a great tool, with many different
configurations.

Hi Pete,
Try: Hold the control key and move the mouse wheel.

Hi Tracy,
I do have multiple monitors, but they will not set independently. I
could switch to a different distro, but that is a LOT of work that I
don't have time for right now.
Ubuntu will not run Windows 7 tool Magnifier, and I will not abide
Windows. Not only that, this computer is ten years old so . . .

Here's how to do it using icedove (Debian's de-branded thunderbird):
Bring up the preferences panel (Edit > Preferences).
On the Display panel's "Formatting" tab under "Fonts" click the
"Advanced" button. Plaintext editing fonts are controlled by the
"Monospace" dropdown boxes.
