I know how to switch the contents sort of a grid connected to a table with a
set of buttons using SET ORDER TO but when I'm using a view and I want to
change from one view to another on the same grid is there an easy way other
than another form. Be Kind BECAUSE I'M SELF TAUGHT.

When you change the source table/cursor/view for a grid, it loses all
its brains in regard to columns, etc. So, before you change, you have
to clear the .ControlSource, make the switch, and then re-set the
.Controlsource afterward.
This, of course, assumes the field/column names are all the same! <g>

Or - I think this should work - and the fields are different - you can
specifically change the Control Source on each Grid item. Alternately -
you could have Multiple Grids defined on the Same form - and ONLY show
the grid for the Active View - and hide the other Grid(s).

But, if the fields are different, then you will probably need to change
the field widths as well, not to mention the column headings!
I would consider setting up separate grid objects, each one tuned to the
structure to be displayed, and then select the appropriate one by
setting the .Visible attribute.

Hey - wait - Dan - isn't that what I just said in my "Alternately"

HAH - Snagged my idea and relabeled it your own! That's OK - my Boss
does that at work in a Very Underhanded way - All the time - and to

yes
It is a media database ... movies... I stepped up in normalization since I
had multiple copies of things. Now with instances as a separate table, I
have to use a view to list them. My 600 dvd player is loaded as I acquired
[randomly] them so the views fields are the same but sorted differently.
I can call up loaded dvd's to play from a menu and I hope to be able to
stream from a media hard drive also.
View 1 .. movies listed by type-location [dvds, vhs]
View 2 .. movies listed by title..associated with movNo
[table1 .. title/cast/info/pic-no]
[table2 .. media-type/location]

That's what I hope to do. The views are identical but sorted differently.

Does that mean put both views on but hide one and just show the active view.
That is a cool solution. [there is only 2-sorts] Sounds messy but I could
play with it
