Any body know of any problems with MYSQL 2008 64BIT and a AMD ATHLON II X2.
A service guy today said the two were not compatible and we had to buy
another MB and intel processor.

Well we put an additional 220.00 MB and Intel processor and guess what ..
same thing Counter Point utilities report that MYSQL will not run with Intel
Processor.
So much for the experts from Counter Point and their utilities.
I thought it was BS from start..

Jerry:
I'm a little confused about what you're trying to do. I'll be glad to
help out if I can. I've been using MySQL since 2002 and have installed
it on dozens of machines, 32-bit, 64-bit, Intel, AMD, PowerPC and RISC
chips, though primarily on Linux and BSD, I do have a couple Windows
installs, though I don't recommend it.
MySQL has version numbers like 5.5, not 2008. Are you talking about
Microsoft SQL Server, rather than MySQL?
So, tell me more about the machine you're trying to install it on
(CPU, RAM, brand, model) and the OS.

I would be amazed if anything like this would be CPU vendor dependent.
Software these days interacts with the OS, not the bare metal. So if the
OS runs on AMD, then anyone saying that you need to use an Intel chip
are talking out of their jacksie.
