I picked up extortion malware at a well-known political blog. I think I'm safer surfing porno sites now.
I still haven't found the solution yet. I've tried compufix and it didn't fix it.
AVG did not detect it.

You can run a free scan here: http://www.eset.com/online-scanner
This picked up some issues on my PC that neither combofix, AVG,
malwarebytes, spybot & bitdefender did not report.

I'm thinking that I should be running CCleaner daily too, especially
after web browsing. ???

Thanks to Profox for recommending this for my recent woes. Seems to
have fixed the AntiVir Pro crapware popping up on that laptop.

I am using a trial version of VMWare to I can do just what you are
suggesting.
I find it works well for any .iso files I already had. My next step is to
create an .iso of my existing Windows XP installation which includes SP3. I
found some instructions but need to actually do it. The difficulty seems to
be merging the SP3 .iso file that you get when downloading from Microsoft.

Hey Gil - I suspect you meant that as a humorous reply - considering
that as of lately I have been seeing more reports online about holes in
Mac security. I am right about the humor!
