How do I
code in page anchors and links in a PDF file.
I am using PDFXChange.
I write the original in Word 2003 and then format it into a PDF file
with PDF Creator.
Thank you

Dear Virgil:
Thank you for the tip.
I compiled the Word2003.doc with CutePDF and setting up one link.
Though the link works in the DOC file, it does not in the PDF file:
http://homepages.uc.edu/~enzerch/CV.pdf
What is my next step?

Interesting..
Send the file to vbiersch@ktc.com and I'll look at it...
Now the links in a pdf do not appear to be there..
BUT, when you move your mouse over the link, it will change to a hand and
you can click on it and then select allow and it will open up in a browser.

By the way, not sure what you mean by compiled...
What you want to do is PRINT to the cutepdf printer and then you will need
to go to wherever you saved it and open it up.,

Yes, I used CutePDF to"print" and PDF file.
But the anchors that worked in the DOC file did not work in the PDF file:

The reason those links are not working is because cutepdf has no way to know
that they are links..
In your word document, there must be a display option that shows the link
too, although I'm not a word expert so I don't know where it is..
If you will look at the document, the ones that showed an @ or www. Were
converted.
The others weren't
Hope this points you in the right direction.
Virgil

To translate the anchors from what MS Word thinks of an anchor to what
a PDF thinks of an anchor requires a fairly intimate link between the
two documents. When you're asking Word to "print" it is just rendering
fonts and colors into a bitmap, which is why you get the
non-responsive, but colored links. A relatively expensive solution
might be to use something like Adobe Acrobat which has a Word add-on
that makes the connection. The cheaper solution might be to use
OpenOffice.org, which has an "Export to PDF" built into it.
Other applications may have these features built in, but I know the
recent OpenOffice.org has an options dialog in the "Export to PDF..."
menu item to make links work as you would expect.
