Oh, for cripes sake. Tell me you don't think this is Off-Topic. Take
it there, please. All you have to do is alter the subject line, as I
did above.

Agreed. And the US and Allies did a fine job of rebuilding them as
part of the Marshall Plan after we and the opposition blew them to
pieces. I wish we'd do as good a job on the Amtrak Acela. Great idea,
poorly funded and supported.

Yep, I have fond memories of taking a series of trains out into the
hinterlands of the Netherlands late last century. A great system.
But NotFox. NotTechnology. OffTopic. Please.
Darcy won't be the only one unsubscribing if we keep trashing the
mailing list like this.

I have a splinter in my finger, so I'll cut off my arm.
Twit filters are a much better solution than unsubscribing when the
problems stem from a consistent small group of people who can't be
bothered to be considerate of others. I'd probably hate the list
without 'em.

We took the trains from ingolstadt to Munich and back
several times while I was in Germany.
We loved the cleanliness and convenience of the trains
as well as the Munich subway.
However.
In the US there is no real rail alternatives and
people are not going to get behind rail travel except
for limited point to point destinations.
Taking the train from NJ to Washington DC is good, but
there's no way to get from here to Louisville without
going through Chicago. So it's either bus, plane or
car.
Additionally, rail is almost as expensive as flying.

Chet believes the TV infomercials too. "All the Rage
in Europe", "Most popular can opener in Europe",
"Europe's favorite pasta fork, The Eurofork".

What's worse is people who complain about $3/gallon for gasoline,

Spent some time in UK and always thought a pint could only refer to
beer. ;c)

Honestly, I don't think sheep are all that energy efficient, as a means
