Oh, for cripes sake. Tell me you don't think this is Off-Topic. Take

Agreed. And the US and Allies did a fine job of rebuilding them as
part of the Marshall Plan after we and the opposition blew them to
pieces. I wish we'd do as good a job on the Amtrak Acela. Great idea,
poorly funded and supported.

Yep, I have fond memories of taking a series of trains out into the
hinterlands of the Netherlands late last century. A great system.
