When can we expect to see free elections in the USA then?

The way the present system works only the very rich can possibly stand a

chance of becoming president.

The wacky thing about this is that Egypt is considered to be a close

ally of the US. What's the next domino to fall -- Canada?

Yes, but remember it was the critics of Bush who said he overlooked the Saudis and Egyptians

merely because they were friendly to the US. Canada will fall shortly to free and open

elections:)

Hi Gary!

If you write a killer application and get really rich can you run for king?

If a majority of the people want you to be king for whatever reason,

will you be?

Pete

Whilst the Queen remains titular Head of State in the UK the Prime

Minister is our equivalent of what you call a president.

Any UK citizen (whether born here or naturalised) can stand as a

candidate to become a Member of Parliament (MP) and can subsequently

rise to be head of that party, subsequently becoming the Prime Minister

either by ballot of the people or party if mid-term.

We don't have any of this electoral college shennanigans that you like

to practice your side of the pond.

I think this may boil down to a difference in our respective definitions

of the word "rich"...
