05:21:49 samueldmq does anybody know how I can force SDK to use a specific version?
05:22:25 samueldmq I use identity_api_version=3 but the cloud still works even thouhg only 2.0 is available
05:22:45 samueldmq I set that in clouds.yml
14:45:11 openstackgerrit Andreas Jaeger proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Use templates for cover and lower-constraints https://review.openstack.org/600941

16:22:11 tobias-urdin mordred: sorry for double ping, just wanted to post this in the correct channel, posted in infra previously
16:22:14 tobias-urdin 16:45 < tobias-urdin> mordred: would it be possible to add magnum COE cluster support to shade? seems like it has support for cluster templates but not clusters itself, what I could see | openstacksdk supports coe clusters |
16:22:19 tobias-urdin 16:45 < tobias-urdin> i want to add magnum cleanup support for ospurge |
16:22:23 tobias-urdin 16:45 < tobias-urdin> i assume in the future such tools would probably be better of migrating from shade into using openstacksdk itself

15:13:19 samueldmq dtantsur: o/
15:13:46 samueldmq dtantsur: thanks for the reviews. there is a bunch more waiting for some love :)
15:14:11 dtantsur samueldmq: yeah, I'll try to get to them :)
15:14:25 samueldmq dtantsur: awesome, thanks
16:21:00 cdent dtantsur: We've got a job for you: We want https://review.openstack.org/#/c/459405/ to merge as a document representing the current state of the art, even if it is not yet fully done because there's a lot of good info. Since you're not here, and you care, we're making you do it :)
16:43:24 dtantsur cdent: c'mon, aren't people who are absent usually assigned? :)
16:43:34 dtantsur but yeah, I can give it a look
16:43:51 cdent thanks
17:49:14 samueldmq dtantsur: if I do volume_api_version=1 in my clouds.yml
17:49:36 samueldmq dtantsur: sdk should use volume v1, correct? it keeps using v2...
17:49:56 samueldmq dtantsur: it's a devstack that has v1, v2 and v3 in the service catalog
17:49:57 dtantsur samueldmq: I'd expect that, yes
17:50:07 dtantsur though
17:50:24 dtantsur maybe we need https://review.openstack.org/#/c/600292/ to make it all work?
17:50:40 samueldmq dtantsur: kk I'll investigate further
17:50:48 samueldmq dtantsur: maybe? mordred can confirm

16:40:33 openstackgerrit Monty Taylor proposed openstack/keystoneauth master: Protect against endpoint_data not existing https://review.openstack.org/601636
16:40:40 mordred dtantsur, TheJulia: https://review.openstack.org/600292 seems to be working exept for the bifrost job - I *think* the bifrost job will be fixed by that ^^
17:57:12 openstackgerrit Monty Taylor proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Start building pdfs of docs https://review.openstack.org/601659
17:58:13 dtantsur thanks mordred
18:09:38 sc68cal hey has anyone had success using the openstack dynamic inventory for Ansible? I'm getting 401 not authorized errors but I have a valid clouds.yaml file and regular `openstack` CLI commands work
18:13:26 sc68cal https://gist.github.com/sc68cal/c8722261f8ae53c3480a1a3ae8cbde34
18:15:55 openstackgerrit Monty Taylor proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Start building pdfs of docs https://review.openstack.org/601659
18:17:12 Shrews sc68cal: that openstack cli command does not appear to be using the clouds.yaml. i suspect your env vars are overriding clouds.yaml
18:17:17 openstackgerrit Ian Y. Choi proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Start building pdfs of docs https://review.openstack.org/601659
18:18:35 Shrews or does the cli use a default entry from clouds.yaml? i keep forgetting how that works :/
18:19:30 openstackgerrit Ian Y. Choi proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Start building pdfs of docs https://review.openstack.org/601659
18:20:46 Shrews yeah, -h output seems to indicate env vars are used
18:21:31 sc68cal -h output?
18:21:35 Shrews openstack -h
18:22:09 sc68cal I didn't call openstack with the -h flag
18:22:12 openstackgerrit Monty Taylor proposed openstack/openstacksdk master: Start building pdfs of docs https://review.openstack.org/601659
18:22:20 sc68cal there's a couple env vars I'm using
18:22:21 Shrews sc68cal: i know. i was just verifying something
18:22:45 sc68cal OS_PROJECT_NAME, OS_REGION_NAME, and OS_CLOUD
18:22:48 Shrews sc68cal: you shouldn't mix env vars and clouds.yaml. try unsetting them
18:23:02 sc68cal ok but I have a lot of projects and regions that are available for use
18:23:48 Shrews that's fine. iirc, the ansible plugin reads all entries in clouds.yaml
18:24:21 Shrews for the cli, you can use the --os-cloud option to select them
18:26:01 sc68cal ok, but I'm getting auth problems with the ansbile plugin, it's the same shell and env
18:26:14 sc68cal openstack CLI works, ansible plugin doesn't, and reports an auth error
18:26:57 Shrews sc68cal: right. you have openstack ENV vars set (i suspect) when using ansible
18:27:01 Shrews sc68cal: don't do that
18:27:30 Shrews sc68cal: openstack cli and the ansible plugin do not operate the same way
18:27:36 sc68cal well I'm not going to write my password to a file in clouds.yaml
18:30:43 sc68cal which I believe is the issue
18:31:24 sc68cal I'm setting OS_PASSWORD via secure input from my shell and I don't want that written to a file on the filesystem
20:20:06 mordred sc68cal: we unfortunately do not have support for that as a workflow
20:21:25 mordred sc68cal: OS_PASSWORD being set as an envvar will cause a cloud called "envvars" to be created that has that password set, and then the selector of OS_CLOUD will pull in a configured cloud but it will not have that password (we originally supported overlaying envvars on top of clouds from config files and it consistently failed in ways that users didn't expect)
20:21:57 mordred sc68cal: we do have support for having separate clouds.yaml and secure.yaml - but if you're looking to avoid file on filesystem that won't help
20:22:13 mordred sc68cal: lemme ponder the usecase - I understand the words you're saying ...
20:54:36 sc68cal yeah no problem
20:55:39 sc68cal I've tested it by populating the password in clouds.yaml but I would have to switch to a different account that doesn't have any real privileges anywhere else besides openstack
21:42:07 mordred sc68cal: yah, totally. how new is your cloud? cause we recently added support for "application credentials" - which is basically the ability to make an API-only auth user/credential
21:42:49 mordred sc68cal: basically so that for folks who have federated auth with the auth being used also for not-openstack, there can be an openstack api credential that can be used from files or injected into container images or whatnot safely
21:51:41 mordred dtantsur|afk, TheJulia: I am *completely* baffled by the bifrost failure on https://review.openstack.org/#/c/600292/
21:52:08 mordred I cannot see anywhere in keystoneauth how to make that method return None at all
22:07:35 mordred TheJulia: yah
22:11:48 TheJulia mordred: so there is a way in 3.8.0
22:12:02 TheJulia no endpoint_override being passed in results in None being returned
22:13:33 mordred oh yeah?
22:14:11 TheJulia yeah
22:14:21 mordred TheJulia: WOOT! thank you - that reproduces the error, thank you!
22:14:45 TheJulia mordred: perhaps it is time to come up to the bar area and order a tasty coffee beverage?
22:18:45 openstackgerrit Monty Taylor proposed openstack/keystoneauth master: Protect against endpoint_data not existing https://review.openstack.org/601636
22:19:01 mordred TheJulia: THANK YOU SO MUCH - I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to make a test for that
22:24:03 TheJulia mordred: no problem, thank the pumpkin spice latte
22:24:50 TheJulia cmurphy: elevation in the lobby
22:25:20 cmurphy i wonder if they can do chai lattes
22:25:54 TheJulia That I don't know
