12:26:17 frickler looks like this channel is lacking a topic, did it get lost or was it never set?
14:05:00 briancurtin seems relatively self explanatory
14:38:49 frickler briancurtin: a reference to osc might be helpful, also a link to the logs
14:39:38 frickler also I'm wondering why python-openstacksdk isn't listed in governance/reference/projects.yaml
14:40:58 briancurtin it’s not necessary, but it seems like that’s probably going to change
14:48:09 dtroyer FWIW, briancurtin created the channel and graciously allowed us (OSC) and other client-related folk to join in the fun. Oddly enough the SDK is the last of the projects regularly spoken here that will become official (via likely upcoming adoption by Shade)

11:30:17 sdague cdent (et al): I started working on the microversion slides for API Strat (which somehow need to setup the problem to be solved with microversions and the solution and take aways in 20 minutes...)
11:30:38 sdague Libreoffice starting point thus far is here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/pggmwjcc167y16h/REST_API_Microversions.odp?dl=0 (I can convert to other format if folks need it)
11:30:45 sdague would be curious on feedback
11:30:56 cdent cool, will have a look today
11:31:37 cdent sdague: do you have a portable black hole your using to compress multiple years of discussion into 20 minutes?
11:32:47 sdague so, I think my goals of the talk are to make sure people understand the "going backwards in time" as you cross different clouds
11:35:04 cdent that’s a good idea
11:35:37 sdague That's 10 minutes, 5 minutes for what the solution we came up with looks like, and 5 minutes for dropping other implications just as facts with no supporting info with a "please feel free to chat with me later"
11:36:05 sdague the bulk of these slides are trying to walk people through that back in time problem
11:40:12 cdent I think that’s the correct balance
11:40:53 cdent I haven’t looked yet but I assume somewhere in there you mention something like “most people think of apis as having one deployer or deployment, this is not that"
12:37:44 ldl in the compute's _proxy.py, there is no method to create snapshot for server, alright?
12:38:10 briancurtin please look at the docs
13:01:42 sdague cdent: look at the slides, see if you think I say that clear enough :)
13:02:35 cdent sdague: will do, my progress on my morning list is going slower than desired…
13:02:46 cdent especially seeing as I’m well into the afternoon
13:12:49 dhellmann dtroyer: I'm getting a bunch of complaints about the new help-showing-package-names thing breaking people. https://review.openstack.org/#/c/507679/ should fix it, can you put that high on your review list so we can get it out?
15:27:19 cdent sdague: some quick notes, as a I read
15:27:25 cdent sdague: s/lucking/lucky/
15:28:23 cdent instead of A, B, C use Cloud A, Cloud B, Cloud C, or s/Cloud/API/ otherwise the meaning disappears in the encoding
15:30:03 sdague yeh, good point, I keep kind of transforming data up. Maybe I should make some fake logos for them or something to keep them visually distinct
15:30:34 cdent sdague: page 10 isn’t nailing the idea of many deployers and deployments, it can easily be interpreted as mean “you should devops” (as in devs should deploy, which is not at all what you mean)
15:31:23 cdent might be clearer by distinguishing 3 classes of teams: dev, deployer, users. Or at least mention that deployers are N>small
15:32:03 cdent slide 12++
15:32:04 sdague yeh, I was thinking about that
15:33:13 dtroyer dhellmann: +W… do we need a .1 release for that?
15:33:23 cdent pages 6 and 7 are workable as long as you are talking quite a bit. in isolation it’s very blinkmaking, but imagining what you might say and it works
15:34:16 cdent given your limited amount of time I reckon you’ll want to introduce the problem hard and solid, and then say “this is what we did about it and it works” without claiming any perfection or anything
15:34:53 sdague the whole "well in devops the developers should be the operators" with a ... so no one uses open source in anything devops right?
15:34:56 cdent spage 8 is where I experience my biggest WAT, because of the encoding issues already mentioned
15:35:18 cdent heh
15:36:43 sdague yeh, honestly slide 8 probably can just be deleted and go straight to 9
15:38:49 cdent I’d copy the drink image to the last slide as a reminder
15:39:28 cdent sdague: do you have any concerns about using the “REST” instead of “HTTP”?
15:39:56 sdague not exceptionally
15:40:13 cdent I would think that’s one of the environments where you’d find some people who might be triggered
15:40:31 sdague maybe, I don't know. That's what the talk's title is though
15:40:39 cdent :)
15:43:12 cdent sdague: if you make a new version, I’m happy to browse again later
15:44:02 sdague cdent: sure, I think with the dropbox link it will always be the latest copy as I save, I'll keep on doing edits
15:44:34 cdent cool, I think it will prove a useful thing. I’m disappointed I won’t be there to hear the comments and questions

02:53:30 ldl Hi, friends, may I ask a question?
02:53:59 ldl I only in the openstacksdk's block_store find the snapshot operation.
02:54:18 ldl But did not find snapshot for server(VM).
02:54:29 briancurtin then perhaps it needs to be added to compute
02:54:46 ldl I searched
02:55:04 briancurtin it is not 100% complete on all services APIs
02:56:02 ldl you means the VM snapshot did not realize now in the openstacksdk?
02:56:50 briancurtin i don’t know what that means, but if there are no snapshot methods on compute and if there is actually such a thing in real life offered by the compute API, that just means it needs to be added
02:57:08 briancurtin the snapshot things on block store are about block store
02:58:26 ldl thank you for the answer.
17:13:00 openstackgerrit Ed Leafe proposed openstack/api-wg master: Change API-WG to API-SIG https://review.openstack.org/508242

20:16:48 edleafe cdent: to change the URLs we'd have to move the GitHub repo
20:17:38 cdent ah, yeah, I guess that’s the way it goes

08:49:25 ldl Hi, friends, may I ask a question about the openstacksdk's compute?
08:49:37 ldl in the compute -> _proxy.py
08:49:40 ldl def start_server(self, server):
08:49:41 ldl """
08:49:41 ldl :returns: None
08:49:41 ldl :class:`~openstack.compute.v2.server.Server` instance.
08:49:41 ldl :param server: Either the ID of a server or a
08:49:41 ldl """Starts a stopped server and changes its state to ``ACTIVE``.
08:49:42 ldl server.start(self._session)
08:49:42 ldl server = self._get_resource(_server.Server, server)
08:49:53 ldl we start_server,
08:50:36 ldl but there is no callback function. how we can know whether and when it start success?
