12:20:15 briancurtin that's probably more of a pycharm question though so maybe ask them? i imagine you just run the interpreter under the debugger, import things, call methods, and inspect the variables? the only ide/debugger i've used like that is visual studio, and it just worked

11:28:41 ldl Hi, friends, I want to know whether I can create a project by openstacksdk?
11:31:10 seanhandley You can ldl
11:31:37 ldl there is no demo, right?
11:31:42 seanhandley As long as your user is an administrator (i.e. has the admin role)
11:32:59 ldl i can also create user using openstacksdk, alright?
11:33:14 seanhandley Yeah
11:34:09 seanhandley I believe conn.identity.create_project and conn.identity.create_user
11:34:17 seanhandley I don't know all the params it expects
11:34:38 seanhandley but if you call the methods without supplying params it'll hopefully tell you what it expects
11:44:22 ldl :seanhandley thank you first. because I want when a user register his account, I will create a project and user for him. As your said, must via admin account , then can create project and user , alright?
12:02:40 seanhandley Yes
12:03:04 seanhandley The company I work for runs a public cloud based on OpenStack
12:03:22 seanhandley so we ended up writing code that creates users/projects in response to people signing up to our service
12:03:33 seanhandley so our service has its own account in Keystone with the admin role
12:03:42 seanhandley and the users created are non-admin users
12:04:35 seanhandley I believe it's going to be possible to have more granular permission hierarchies where users are admins of their own domain and all projects/users belonging to that domain
12:05:03 seanhandley but when we first started using OpenStack that wasn't possible - an admin had access to everything on the whole cloud (including all customers)
12:05:35 seanhandley for us at least, it meant that our users couldn't create their own users/projects directly in the OpenStack APIs
12:05:45 seanhandley so we made it possible via our own API/dashboard
12:06:04 seanhandley Hope that answers your question ldl
12:08:03 ldl :seanhandley Thanks for your sobering answer.
12:15:16 briancurtin ldl: see https://developer.openstack.org/sdks/python/openstacksdk/users/proxies/identity_v3.html for details about what you’re trying to do.
12:18:34 ldl :seanhandley I don't know whether can create a user that only can create project and user. use the policy to set the permission limits.
12:18:44 ldl to the created user.
12:19:36 seanhandley What version of OpenStack are you running ldl ?
12:19:41 ldl n
12:20:35 seanhandley Ask in #openstack-keystone
12:20:43 ldl ok
12:20:48 seanhandley You want to create users with domain-level admin privileges
12:21:06 seanhandley I'm not sure a) if that's currently possible b) which version introduced that change
12:30:14 openstackgerrit Steve Martinelli proposed openstack/python-openstackclient master: Add functional test cases for "volume qos associate/disassociate" https://review.openstack.org/504890
12:33:29 seanhandley ldl: https://dstanek.com/keystone-domain-admins/
12:33:41 ldl wow
12:33:47 seanhandley Sounds like domain-level admins are possible in Newton and more recent
12:34:08 seanhandley you need to create a domain for each customer/account
12:34:29 seanhandley then users within that domain with the correct domain-admin role will be able to create users/projects inside that domain

08:32:32 ldl may I ask a question?, my friends. we know we can use the conn to do many things. such as: conn.compute.servers(), but in the source code, how can I know the connection's the property?
08:35:51 ldl https://github.com/openstack/python-openstacksdk/blob/master/openstack/connection.py
08:35:51 ldl In the source code I do not find the compute property where is.
08:50:15 openstackgerrit liyi proposed openstack/python-openstacksdk master: Add force parameter for cluster and node deletion https://review.openstack.org/505117
08:51:52 Qiming ldl, what do you want?
08:52:26 ldl I want to know how can I to read the openstack source code
08:52:30 ldl :Qiming
08:52:48 Qiming the proper way to read the source is to read
08:53:56 openstackgerrit Merged openstack/python-openstackclient master: Add python-zunclient plugin https://review.openstack.org/504533
08:54:05 Qiming are you looking for someone to read the source for you?
08:55:56 seanhandley ldl: Describe more clearly what it is you're trying to achieve and perhaps someone can guide you to the right part of the source code
08:56:21 ldl such as: conn.compute.servers() this method I can use to list the servers
08:56:34 seanhandley properties aren't always defined where you expect them to be because classes inherit from other classes, or composite behaviours from elsewhere in the code directly into their own module
08:56:48 ldl but in the source code I did not find the method
08:56:58 seanhandley ldl: ok
08:57:04 seanhandley Did you read all the source code in the sdk ?
09:00:09 seanhandley I'm not personally very familiar with the code in the SDK but at a glance it seems a lot of shared behaviour is defined here: https://github.com/openstack/python-openstacksdk/blob/master/openstack/resource.py
09:00:44 seanhandley I think it's quite possible that servers() is defined dynamically
09:01:42 seanhandley if you read https://github.com/openstack/python-openstacksdk/blob/79462437058e37b83b8153531b5078ddc5a1edb8/openstack/compute/v2/server.py you'll see that it defines its `resources_key` as "servers"
