16:07:14 Uggla #info Please try to provide a meaningful comment when you recheck
16:07:59 Uggla I just have a quick glance at the gate jobs, I have not seen something frightening.
16:08:17 Uggla But I could be wrong.
16:08:33 Uggla Does someone want to report something ?
16:09:01 gibi nope. Gate seems to be OK
16:09:05 gibi to me
16:09:36 Uggla ok so moving on

16:12:42 Uggla ^ this is not yet updated with the PTG info, I will do that either later or tomorrow.
16:13:00 Uggla #info PTG etherpad for 2026.1 is available: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/nova-2026.1-ptg
16:13:23 Uggla He have just sent the summary, https://lists.openstack.org/archives/list/openstack-discuss@lists.openstack.org/thread/7RD26DHKJV5DBXHXLRZIRFKJNMHZFCUB/
16:13:51 Uggla I hope it is ok and I don't miss too many things.
16:15:43 sean-k-mooney its on my too read list but i have not got to it yet
16:15:51 sean-k-mooney if i think of anything ill reply to the email
16:16:09 Uggla sean-k-mooney, sure
16:17:27 Uggla let's say that sometime I may have summarized a bit too much.
16:18:07 Uggla I also use a bit of AI, but not too much. Lazy I am.
16:18:11 sean-k-mooney well you included the readonly link to the full ptg etherpad
16:18:19 sean-k-mooney so all the info is aviabel if peopel want to dig deeper
16:19:02 Uggla yep, I was also lazy not to provide the summary on x session that Nova had not run.
16:19:21 Uggla So Ironic, Neutron, Glance.
16:20:15 Uggla I think we can move on, unless someone wants to add something else.

16:22:28 Uggla As Elod seems not available skipping Stable branch point
16:24:02 Uggla Just worth to mention that Caracal will move to unmaintained.
16:24:37 Uggla #topic vmwareapi 3rd-party CI efforts Highlights
16:24:44 fwiesel Hi, no updates from my side.
16:25:02 Uggla fwiesel, thx, as about to ask, but you were faster than me.
16:25:13 Uggla #topic Gibi's news about eventlet removal.
16:25:24 Uggla gibi, something you'd like to say.
16:25:26 sean-k-mooney fwiesel: are there still patches for vmware that are pednign reveiw
16:25:27 gibi sure
16:25:39 sean-k-mooney i fell like we never got around to merging all of them but i coudl be wrgon
16:27:29 gibi nova-sch, -api, -metadata is now proposed to be switched to native threading by default as agreed on the PTG. Patch series https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/965924
16:27:33 gibi nova-compute can boot VMs now in native threading mode with https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/965467/3 . Libvirt event handling does not work yet so live migration and device attach is failing.
16:28:01 gibi Uggla: this is the two news I had
16:28:28 dansmith gibi: nice
16:28:38 Uggla gibi 👍
16:28:43 fwiesel sean-k-mooney: To be honest, I am not sure I submitted it to review yet. It was depending on the bug in cinder getting fixed,
16:29:13 sean-k-mooney fwiesel: ack
16:29:27 sean-k-mooney fwiesel: just wanted to make sure you were not blocked on reviwe on the nova side
16:29:41 sean-k-mooney gibi: cool i briefly looked last week but not in any detail
16:30:39 fwiesel sean-k-mooney: Thanks
16:31:57 Uggla #topic Open discussion
16:32:07 Uggla No agenda topic today.
16:32:23 Uggla Does someone want to share about something ?
16:32:28 gibi -
16:33:03 bauzas .
16:33:15 sean-k-mooney `
16:33:23 gibi :)
16:33:32 sean-k-mooney i think that is a no
16:33:40 gibi ∅
16:33:46 sean-k-mooney do we want to do some bug triage or give everyone back some time
16:34:19 Uggla I think we gonna keep this one short. Especially after last long week.
16:34:35 sean-k-mooney +1
16:35:00 Uggla I will restart the rooster stuff for triage, along the week. it should be ready next week.
16:35:47 fwiesel Then, thanks everyone
16:35:49 Uggla anyway, time to close. Thanks for joining this meeting. Have a nice day/evening.

16:51:04 opendevreview Balazs Gibizer proposed openstack/nova master: Libvirt event handling without eventlet https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/nova/+/965949
18:36:49 dansmith melwitt: so... I redeployed the vTPM series at the host patch this morning
18:37:39 dansmith and I'm able to create an instance in host mode as a user, stop it, and then restart it as the admin
18:37:59 dansmith which shows that we've actually improved things before we even get to the deployment mode and migration part of the series
18:38:02 dansmith that's expected right?
18:38:22 melwitt dansmith: yes that is expected
18:38:43 melwitt it was a small change in the 'host' support patch to make restart as admin work
18:38:50 dansmith confirming because I'm not really testing the tpm part, but the instance does have a tpm and it's not complaining when the admin does it
18:38:55 dansmith yeah, cool
18:39:39 dansmith so I'm thinking it would be good, since we have several +2s (some of which are stale) to just go ahead and merge up to the host patch to reduce the size of the series, claim some success and focus on the later bits
18:39:44 dansmith any problem with that?
18:39:51 dansmith I wish bauzas was here but I think he's already EOD
18:40:48 melwitt sounds cool to me
18:41:25 dansmith okay I'll make sure my +2s are good down the line from there and then we can pounce on him tomorrow
18:43:43 melwitt ++

06:47:01 tonyb review.o.o is down. When I check it was in shutoff state. That's the second time recently. One guess is that the hypervisor host's OOM killer is ... well killing the VM (it is a memory hog).
06:48:08 tonyb If that happened, and nova notices does nova take any action? Like maybe logging a fake/minimal server event
07:12:11 tonyb Maybe it looks like a "power-update" to nova.compute.api::external_instance_event and emits and event here: https://opendev.org/openstack/nova/src/commit/32f58e8ad6a7ff896cc6ae8a361e3a18f5b35c9a/nova/compute/api.py#L5994 ?
08:00:59 gibi tonyb: nova logs the following from a periodic tasks if detects that the power state of the VM is different than the power state of the domain on the hypervisor https://github.com/openstack/nova/blob/32f58e8ad6a7ff896cc6ae8a361e3a18f5b35c9a/nova/compute/manager.py#L11134
08:01:11 gibi then aligns the power state in the DB
