The symptoms you describe might have a number of causes. One of them is

memory starvation. Before you hack too many things, check out the debugging

command line switches you can use with foxpro to display what environment

foxprox thinks it's running in. (They're in the help file) If you find the

exe is memory-starved, you might have to set some configuration options to

provide the extended/expanded memory foxprox needs.

Windows XP isn't a supported OS any more, and isn't safe to use on a

machine connected to a network or the internet.

You might consider a supported OS and virtual machine configured to run

DOS, so you'd actually have a compatible environment.

Alternatively, you could recompile the app to run in VFP. Many DOS apps are

surprisingly functional, if not cosmetically appealing.
