Thanks.

I hadn't heard of vfpx because I've been pretty well out of work for the

most part since 2003.

Haven't even seen a contract using fp since 2009.

For the most part, I was working my way out of development and into

management back around 2000 because I saw more and more developer jobs being

sent offshore (figured management would be safer, but I was wrong <grin>)

I have a copy of vfp here and for the most part, I think I would like to

develop the majority of the application using vfp.

At least the part that is local.

Problem is, that would knock out the raspberry and arduino and require a lot

more money which I have none of.

Go to kaaw and enter arduino in the search box.

I have seen some very nice youtube video's come across about people doing

the same things that you are talking about.

Here is another area I would like to experiment with as funds become

available.

If this works as he says it does, I wouldn't even need a hot water heater

here in cental texas.

I have an Oregon scientific weather station and use cumulus for the software

side. It's neat but maybe not as cheap. I do have a Pi and I think it's a

great bit of kit for the money. Not looked into arduino though. I would like

one day, when I have central heating again, to have it controlled by a

computer and it seems a good cheap choice.

I'm surprised anyone on profox has not heard of vfpx, and yes that's the

one. There are some great ideas there including the charts which might work

for you. The only problem with such things as vfpx is they are changing even

when done. Seems like they are never done and it makes it hard to use when

they have to be updated a lot. If that makes sense. Still very much worth a

look.
