Very few of my clients have an AD. Most have one or more manufacturers =
that
are now mostly web based. Any internal Servers are typically File =
servers,
but with the Web Craze that has become so prevalent even that is =
beginning
to diminish. Only a few have tried to use Vista, as their manufacturers =
do
not support it yet, just now some have begun to support IE7. The folks =
I
see running into trouble are home users who were once able to get their
printers and some drives to share nicely together. Once Vista is tossed
into the mix all bets are off. They call for me to help, and I refer =
them
to the manufacturer for help as I no longer have time to dink with home =
user
issues. The smart ones call me before getting something, and until =
recently
I have been able to persuade folks to get the XP downgrade option (now a
rarity for non-Netbook and non-business class PCs). It saves me grief, =
and
Vista really does not bring enough to the party IMHO to make it worth
hassling with. If a person has time to deal with Vista, they have time =
to
learn Ubuntu Linux - or Mac, and are better off for it for simple web
browsing, email, and doing homework assignments, or whatever.
I kind of look at Vista as a latter day Win ME, where 2000 Pro =
eventually
usurped ME (on M$'s own site, once 2000 Pro was released, problems were =
to
be solved by upgrading to 2000 Pro. M$ gave up on ME). I am betting =
Win7
will do the same to Vista, this century's mistake.
