If you want media streaming you could look at the free TVersity.

This just takes a list of folders that you specify containing any type

of media in most formats and makes it available to stream to a variety

of targets. So for example I have a load of video in various formats,

and my XBox 360 set up as a target. TVersity is visible on the XBox as a

source, so you can just get all the content streamed onto the TV via the

XBox, and converted on the fly if needed. It will even stream (I think)

direct from Youtube and Hulu.
