data missing from copy

Hi Foxgang

I'm not sure what to make of this one.

Laptop with external hard drive.

On the laptop (windows 8) there is a table, probably over 10gb, and the data

is intact. Copy to an external hard drive and the copy has blank records.

Quite a lot of them.

Do the same with USB stick and its fine.

At the time write ahead cache was on and I since requested it turned off.

The copies were made using explorer, not FoxPro.

My thought is that maybe the drive was disconnected before the copy was

finished. And the header had the number of records, so displayed the missing

ones as blank.

The user is nowhere near me so I can't go see.

Any ideas?

TIA Allen

Is this a typo? Ten Gigabytes?

Check the formatting of the two devices and see if they are different If

the drive is FAT32 it may be limited to 4 Gb. NTFS is much larger.

If this isn't the case, I'd suspect the drive has defects. Test it

(CHKDISK, SMART, etc.) or replace it.
