I just downloaded a program called mailsend, which is a command line email program with authenticated smtp support. Unlike the last version of Blat I used, smpt authentication is built in.
Seems to work fine.

Its nice to have this in the arsenal, but it would be better with a
DLL option, agreed ?

I don't know. i haven't programmed around it yet so I don't know how cumbersome it is.
