Or a socialist Marxist. Obama's mind set is appalling. Obama argued that while a limited government that preserves free markets "speaks to our rugged individualism" as Americans, such a system "doesn't work" and "has never worked" and that Americans must look to a more activist government that taxes more, spends more and regulates more if they want to preserve the middle class.
He is oblivious to world history and even what is going on today. We have whole new industries, products and jobs worth hundreds of billions of dollars just from two rugged individualists, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.. Can anyone seriously believe we have government employees or anyone else expecting the government to support them who can duplicate these feats?
The entire Euro zone has been half communistic in the past 30 years and look where it has gotten them. The welfare states are crumbing due to enormous debts paying off the voters and no way out. China also is a good example of what happens when the government opens up the system to rugged individualist. China today is more capitalistic than the U.S. ever was. When China was going through the Red Revolution and gangs killed tens of thousands of intellectuals, business people and anyone else who didn't support the communistic ideal, set back the economy for decades. The peasants had even less than before during this time. There was no middle class nor wealthy class except top government officials. Now many millions of Chinese are living well.
All he has to do is look at the current countries run by dictators and closed governments. Countries like Ivory Coast were once very prosperous and were destroyed by their own dictators who took away all individual incentive.
Finally, he completely forgets our U.S. History. It took rugged individualists to form our country. If the British had caught them they would have been executed on the spot.

I read that a First In into an new venture have a good chance to win.
They take the risk and with that they gain reward or loss.
Somehow your writing says that everyone should get a reward. Your
lost in the past and the frontier being land in the west. In the past
20 years frontiers have been computers, the internet, communications,
making things easier for others, etc.
Mark Cuban is someone who found a contemporary frontier just as Gates
and Jobs.
There will always be opportunities. They just come with risk(s) . So
many people want the reward but don't stand up to the risk.

The biggest risk of all is higher education. You get the degree after
thousands of hours and thousands of $ in student loans, and then there
are no jobs.
And government picks the losers by deciding what they will pay for.

This is why the Government shouldn't be in the student loan business. They are allowing people with bullshit majors to borrow tens of thousands of dollars with zero hope of anyone paying it back. They might as well be loan sharks.

Hi Michael,
That is the lie you are told. You read about the poor and see shows on
TV about the poor. I AM poor. I know people worse off than I.
Remember Virgil? I think he got a real screw job - not in a good way.
I do not have any TV, my cell phone costs me $5 a month. I do not have
any video games unless you want to count the ones in the Ubuntu
Operating System which I never play.
Let's talk about the food. I applied for food stamps and was denied - my
$900 a month from Social Security plus my $63 a week job puts me over
the line. They send me to the food bank where I get rotten vegetables
and moldy bread. All you can eat but it makes you sick.
The shelter I provided myself by working two and three jobs
simultaneously for forty years. The condo Nazis are waging a constant
battle with me to take it away - they want to gentrify and I am not good
enough to live here any more. Eventually they will win, it will be
either homelessness or the nursing home.
The clean water is not always clean. The system is old and breaks often.
When it does we have to boil our water for days.
I suppose my 125 cc bike is an etc. I have no car. I think I live the
basic 3rd word lifestyle with no car, funky food and spotty water.

Hi Michael,
There was a lot of bullshit about how much money we were going to make.
All kinds of analysis about the prospects of the field, available of
jobs with good salaries and benefits. It was being done with real cases.
But when we graduated the market saturated with the established people
AND us all added together. The government set us up.
They had a bill before congress to include us in Medicare. But they
never passed it. Tried for 15 years - they have given up now.
When I graduated I started posting on the web messages to prospective
students about how they would not make anything for a long time if ever
and they had better have a million dollars of seed money to sustain
themselves until they finally succeeded. I got kicked off the forums.
The education scam is the only part of the profession that makes money
here in the states!
The irony of it is that clinically it is sound - the patients get better
right away!

This was all knowable back in 2008. You're not a follower of Saul
Alinsky and chummie with folks like Bill Ayers (ghost writer of your
memoir), Jeremiah Wright, Al Monsour, Odinga, and countless other
demented left wing radicals AND also somehow at the same time an
admirer of classical liberalism, a la John Locke and Adam Smith.
I want to take those influential conservatives who insisted in 2008
that OF COURSE Obama's not a socialist and whack them upside their
pointy heads. But that won't undo what has been done.
It was a nice Republic, while it lasted. We have lost it for lack of
discernment on a point that should be obvious to anyone with a
functioning medulla oblongata. But the country was worked up through
relentless propaganda to desire 'anyone but Bush' so that even a
crackpot socialist tyrant-in-training with qualifications -- and
credentials -- as dubious as Obama's could squirm through to the White
House, and stick the knife right into the heart of our Founding
principles.
Oh well.
