I've got a 3+ gig iso file that I want to decompress on my new laptop, so I
can install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I don't want to burn to a dvd, just
decompress the iso into a folder, so I will have the install files on disk.
Anyone got a good tool for ripping ISO files?
John Harvey

I used this not long ago to prepare an SD card and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my netbook.

I don't think this will work.

7-zip extracts ISOs. But careful, ISOs aren't quite the same as zips.
I use Unetbootin or Universal-USB-Installer to copy the ISO to a
bootable USB drive.

Probably not - if the files are extracted to a USB flash drive or
external HDD, you can certainly install Windows 7 from that though.

Well, you're not ripping it are you. You're just extracting the contents
of an ISO. I use WinRAR for this.
