The reason the profits stay off-shore is because the corporate taxes are lower overseas. If the corporate tax here is lowered below other countries, the money will come pouring back.

Look at California, business are leaving in droves to states with low taxes and lower regulation. This is what's happening with multi-national corporations.

It is very easy. Congress would just announce a tax-free repatriation of all
foreign profits for one year. No fuss no muss. There would be almost no
paper work and it would just happen. Jim Cramer highly recommended it on his
stock analysis show. A secondary hit would be screaming from the countries
where the cash would leave. So I say screw them. It is time for foreigners
to take on the trials of the world and not let the U.S. run things.

I'm totally with you on that last part. Let's mind our own business and
not try to meddle in the rest of the world. Many didn't ask for our
help, either. If they want our troops, let them pay for them. We blow
so much money on bullshit political stuff and are hated by many for our
presence. Pull our troops back. Enough of this attitude that we're the
Policeman of the world. Enough.
As for the first part, I like that too. Heck, if we charge less, then
perhaps we'll make it up with increased business, so we will come ahead
after all?

Libya is unique. One group of Anti-Americans are killing another group of Anti-Americans. Stay out and enjoy it.

Which of these countries would ever step in to help us? I'm not asking
to be their best friend, but it's not our business. What happens after
all this stops? Do we gain an ally? At what cost?

That was another point made by Trump. After every war we fought and won or
lost we just walk away. We never extracted concessions like oil/mineral
rights or repatriation of damages.
Adding my own comment: in some cases we have pumped in billions for
reconstruction (which in the case of Germany and Japan was a good thing.
