Here is the latest news
While the African Union is trying to negotiate a ceasefire between Qaddafi and the rebels, the NATO Secretary General is backing away from Libya saying that military action alone won't solve Libya's problems, which basically means that the mission has now failed.
Bolton adds his thoughts:
I think President Obama has taken what was at one point a fairly straight forward mission with a fairly straight forward objective - that is to say getting rid of Qaddafi - and turned it into a swamp.
.
The President said that our objective in using military force against Qaddafi's army was to protect innocent civilians. What happens in a ceasefire is that Qaddafi stays in power. Since Qaddafi is the principal threat to these innocent Libyan civilians, we're announcing basically that the mission has failed and setting up the possibility for future conflict in the very near future

The African Unions proposal was rejected by the Libyans as it kept
Gadaffi and his sons in power.
The military action was proposed by Britain and France... the US won't
commit any planes or anything that might get shot down prompting
descriptions in Europe of "burger eating surrender monkeys" being
levelled at the US.
Obama has done nowt which is why Britain is calling for more force to
protect the civilians... let's see if Obama can step up or is there no
Oil interests for Haliburton there?

Where does it end? We should NOT be there, in any capacity other than
providing medicines and similar humanitarian aid. Bring our troops home
and stop writing checks that we can't cash. We're broke and we need to
realize that it's not our job to be the global policeman. We must
respect other nations sovereignty. End the actions in Libya,
Afghanistan, and other areas in the middle east and bring all of our
troops home.

If they leave Gadaffi in power, he will dump millions into terrorism again. They should have let this sleeping dog lie.

The Europeans helped get this weak little girl Obama elected by bashing Bush. Bush doesn't look so bad now, does he?

Afghanistan and Iraq had excuses, whether you believe the excuses or not. They can't even make up an excuse for Libya.

Absolutely. We've done nothing but stir up trouble AND WASTE MILLIONS
OF DOLLARS YET AGAIN. When are we going to stop wasting so much money
abroad? We're broke...let's just focus on getting our own house in
order first. And think about not trying to make it the United States of
the World. I'm not talking selfish either--hey, when the airline
stewardess gives the instructions on what to do when the airmasks come
down from the overhead of the jet, there's a reason you put your own
mask on first and THEN help others around you. I'm saying we apply the
same idea here in our foreign & domestic policy, or at least a little
more attention to our own issues here at home FIRST. We're simply
writing checks that we can't cash. We're broke. Stop adding so
horribly to the debt.

When Bush gave Iraq an $87 BILLION (that's with a B) GRANT (free money
that will never have to be repaid), he lost any support I had for him.
He sucked too. They both got us into places we didn't belong over
there. Horrible foreign policy.

And the Libya invasion has no congressional approval, none. This is a violation of the War Powers Act but since it's Barry, it's OK.
