PRESENTATION WHILE IN THE DOS VIRTUAL MACHINE. THE SAME CODE UNDER WIN
2K, AND WIN XP RUNS IN A WIN ONLY HALF THE FULL SCREEN DEEP, WITH
SUITABLY COMPRESSED FONTS. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER THE EXE IS LINKED FROM
OBJECTS THAT DERIVED FROM MS-C-5.1 OR DATA BASE LANGUAGES FROM THE SAME
ERA.

I take it you mean it's in fullscreen mode but not taking up the full
screen?
Start it, hit Alt-Enter to Windowise it. In the window's menu (click on
top left) select 'Properties'. In there go to the 'Layout' tab. In the
'Window Size' section, set the height to 50. Then close and elect to use
the settings for all window or whatever it is that you will get asked.
See if that helps.

Hi Alan:
With suitably lowered voice, and down cast eyes ! and Real Thanks.
The table below indicates Vars. ALL possible combinations tried.
It takes the settings shown to get Size Indicator Win to show full while
changing width and height settings. Default will hold it's settings
but Properties wont. They revert to 80/50, however the width does set to
full screen but the height stays at about 45% of full screen. Totally
weird the Prg now loads with a selection from its first menu already
made ??.

When I was using XP Prof I did the following:
Right-click the DOS application icon, you will see a pageframe with the
following pages:
Program --- mark close on exit
Compatibility --- choose XP
Memory --- set XMS to whatever size you need
Screen -- choose full screen
It worked very well in XP. However, I am now using Windows 7 and it
won't accept full screen.
Hope this helps.

IIRC Vista and 7 won't run DOS apps in fullscreen because the new
display model used doesn't support it.

Regarding the problem, there might be some BIOS settings that can affect
it.
Also try creating a batch file thus:
mode con lines=25
myexe.exe
And running that instead of myexe.exe directly.

What about creating a free VM (virtual machine) and running the
application in there? I recommend VMware.

fail (Netware Server and dos6.22), but the Hardware is creaking. Set
Cyls to 2048 to get 100Gig 7200.10's to work with old BIOS, etc. Prg
Start Dates are 25/02/1992 and such, in Clipper & C. Being able to run
full screen gives me an option to use USB drivers to replace RS232. But
The Old Head benefits greatly from the joy of tinkering, so I am likely
to continue, unless called to a higher place.
