Not a "which is best" question, just curious what folks around here run
as their primary choice of Linux distro....
If you were motivated to switch, what would you switch to?
Laptops?
I'm running Ubuntu nowadays, was using Mint for about 1.5 years and
MEPIS before that....

Hi Matt,
I have two boxes on Ubuntu 9.04. one on Puppy 4.3.1 and a notebook with
no hard drive that I am tinkering with CD stuff.
I have used Red Hat and Mepis.

I don't know which is best. I'm still on Ubuntu 9.04. Because it works! I run it as a
VM under my MacBook. It's my primary development environment and performs well
enough. If I also have Windows running, then the entire system starts to crawl, though.

I sometimes use CentOS on servers, but Ubuntu is good enough there, too, so I usually
just stick to Ubuntu. I used to use Red Hat back before Fedora.

I'm running Ubuntu Karmic and love it!
I'm using a Dell Latitude E6500. I use WinXP in VirtualBox for any Windows stuff (primarily QuickBooks). Switch? I don't think so. If anything, a Mac.

debated endlessly. It's like the "best car" -- the answer depends on
more info in the question.
Primary Fedora for my development laptops, and CentOS for the server
machines. There's a couple double- or triple-boots of Ubuntu, 'cause
it's always good to keep up with the other guys (and to have a second
bootable partition just in case).
One server runs a Debian branch because it's an odd piece of hardware
(AMD Geode) and that's what it came with.
Red Hat Enterprise at a couple of client sites, because they feel
better paying for it..

Macbook Pros would be nice, but they come with that proprietary OS...
