The troop surge in Iraq has been more successful than anyone could have
imagined, Barack Obama conceded Thursday in his first-ever interview on FOX
News' "The O'Reilly Factor."
As recently as July, the Democratic presidential candidate declined to rate
the surge a success, but said it had helped reduce violence in the country.
On Thursday, Obama acknowledged the 2007 increase in U.S. troops has
benefited the Iraqi people.
"I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,"
Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge.
"I've already said it's succeeded beyond our wildest dreams."

Uh... Sen. McCain envisioned it succeeding, back when Obama said there was
no way it would work and indeed had already failed, and other politicians
were busy rewriting their positions to reflect falling polls.

If O'Reilly was able to get him to reverse himself on the surge on today's
show, or even put him in a state of cognitive dissonance between his
original position which he refuses to say was wrong and his latest view that
the surge succeeded beyond 'wildest imagination,' as it appears, then I
don't care what exchange of bodily fluids occurred between them. He did a
public service.
Actually in any case I don't care... perish the thought!
