imo, it seems like it's always bad news for Ford. I personally think

their quality hasn't been Job #1 (as their commercials used to tout) for

years, their models haven't been as nice as the foreign cars for many

years (although some are decent), and the don't hold their value for

anything. They're basically worthless when you go to trade them in for

your next car.

I wonder why it will take so long to get the Euro style of car over

and produced in America?

Nah, they are "too big to fail". Big Brother is going to take more of our money and bail them out... probably not doing anything about the ridiculous union contracts that are driving the company to bankruptcy. I've had several Fords and they weren't too bad, although none have been econoboxes. In fact, it's been many years since I've had a furrin car, and except for a few, wouldn't have one in my garage.

Steve and I have had nothing but Ford vehicles for over a decade. The

Escape, Focus, and Fusion are helping the automaker change over to the new

tastes in vehicles. I think they'll be OK after a period of adjustment.

American cars suck big time. I will only buy Japanese cars until the Americans stop selling crapola.

I've had my used honda accord since 2004 with zero problems. Zero.

Mike, what kind of gas mileage are you getting on your Accord and how

many miles do you have on it? The reason I ask is because I'm seriously

thinking about getting a 2005 Accord as my 'work'/car pool vehicle.

I've had Tbirds, Marquis, etc. and now my wife drives a Mustang. One of the things people tend to forget with the rounded, lump designs of most cars is that short people can't always tell where the corners are in tight places. We got the Mustang because the sharp lines on the front fenders and the spoiler on the back let her (all five feet tall) see where ends of the car are.

It's actually her second one as the first one was destroyed by coming in contact with a GMC Suburban. It was then that I appreciated the heavier car with a little more bulk surrounding the passenger compartment. I'm not sure one of the econoboxes would have faired so well. The trend toward smaller, lighter vehicles, while saving fuel, I believe, will cost lives.

I only really test the gas mileage on vacation, so I get 30 on the highway, pretty close in the city. It's a 4 cylinder.
