2 VFP questions in one day...
This one is driving me nuts. I'm working remotely on a server that has
VFP 9 SP1 installed. This was a perfectly functional setup. Recently I
started getting source not found messages while trying to debug/test.
I've recompiled everything, checked the search path. Retransferred
various bits of the source from my personal dev environment to this server.
So then I set a breakpoint on PROGRAM() and fired things off. Starts out
fine and then I get to a line of code that calls another PRG. As soon as
I step into that line, I get source not available. I can see in the
watch window that VFP can find the prg & the fxp and that the specific
folder is in the VFP search path. When I try to open the prg directly in
the debugger, I get a dialog asking me to Select Program from Application?!?
This is a real WTF moment...

Richard,
When you say you have recompiled everything do you mean that you have done
this manually or just used the recompile option from the project dialog. You
need to use tha actual compile dialog.
I would suggest you delete all the fxp files and let VFP to recreate them.
I promise it will work then if your pathing is correct.

Thanks, Dave. As usual, you post and then stumble more or less into a
solution.
To answer your questions, yes I deleted fxps and recompiled both at the
command line and via the compile dialog. I did this for prgs and forms
and certain classes.
What appears to have happened here is that VFP was looking in my EXE
first instead of the source folders. This happened despite the fact that:
the EXE was not in the VFP default folder/current location, although the
folder it lived in was part of my dev search path
the source folders are in the search path first
sys(2450) is set to its default value of 0
Once I renamed the EXE, all started to work again as expected. This is
still a bit of a mystery to me as I have similar installations in
multiple locations that do not behave like this. But I've lost so much
time trying to figure it out that I'll just file it away under things
that appear to have no rational explanation and get back to work...
