All politicians are waffles! It is part of the job description. They

have to keep everyone happy which causes flip flopping based which way

the wind is blowing (pun intended). Also, there are the bills that are

worded badly or include pork that cause it to be rejected. =20

Changing a position based on new information is one thing; one would

hope that an intelligent person would have the capability to do this.

But we are not discussing a changed position on an issue: this is a

matter of McCain making claims that are simply not true (his economic

knowledge; walking without protection in Baghdad), or blatantly

misrepresenting his positions (Katrina) or experience (al Qaeda and

Iran).

Hi Ed!

It might be part of being a senator. Seems that John Kerry did something like

that when he said he voted for war funding and then voted against it. I know,

it is only bad when an R does it.

Yeah, and he's probably going to take that message to all 57 states, plus the other one, Alaska and Hawaii. Most senators are there because they are unsuited for work in the real world.

Jeez -- anyone knows! States of:

- Denial (12 counties)

- Apathy, or something. Whatever.

- Antagonism -- what kinda frickin' idiot doesn't know that?

- PC, with the capital Correctville, where all everybody is equal

(not "created" equal)

- Taxation

- Smoker Haven (only place left for them)

- Inebriation, to which I'll need to escape from all of the

election "discussions"

Hi Larry!

You are the civics writer for the Richmond Eagle, right? "57 states, plus the

other one, Alaska and Hawaii" is an unusual take. Alaska and Hawaii are

included in the latest official 50, what unofficial ones make up the other 7

plus one?

Hi Ken!

Could be. Another possibility could be territories whose US citizens might

vote in the national primaries but not the main election.
