I'm very sorry to report to you that Jim Kearns, a regular on
this list for many years, and a good friend of mine, has died.
I received an email from Jim McKinniss, his long-time friend and
associate, telling me that he got a call from Jim's wife, who said
that Jim had killed himself several days ago. No other information is
known, especially as to what may have led him to that point.
I'm sure that I speak for most members when I say that he will
be missed, and that our thoughts are with his family.

Ed, I am very sorry to hear you have lost a good friend, and that Jim's
family has lost him. I know words can't begin to provide relief from the
sense of loss and sorrow. It is a shame when the pressures heaped on a
person build to a point where escape is narrowed to one viable option in the
mind's inner workings. It is always a time of sadness when a friend is
lost, but especially so when in this manner.
In sympathy,
Gil

The community has lost a good person. He will be missed, even with his
joking emails. Rest easy, Jim, and may God speed you home.
Truly sorry,
--Michael
I am so sorry to hear it. Words fail me.
Jim and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers
tonight.

A sad day, indeed. He will be missed.
I'm sorry to hear this.
His posts were always informative or amusing or both.
It's also very sad when someone reaches such a level of desperation. My
heart goes out to his family and friends.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Even though we didn't always agree on
things, I always liked him and enjoyed his banter.
May he rest in peace.
