This may have been covered before but of course I can't find it. I
cannot find the help files for VFP 6 anywhere on my Visual Studio
CD's. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate them?

Hi Michael,
The help files are called MSDN (that subscription at that time - gets
renewed often) - and are provided on a separate (two or three) CDs along
with the Visual Studio CDs...

I knew that I had heard that before but do you think that I could
remember it last week. Nope. But that seems to be the dumbest place
to put the help files. Updates yes, but the original copies nope. Oh
well, onward and upward.
Thanks to those that responded.

Good Evening All:
I have spent too much time on this...
I am trying to make VFP6 foxhelp.chm activate from the menu bar within Windows 7 x64 machine.
My original Visual Studio CDs would not install so I copied the folder from my Windows XP box to the Windows 7 box. I registered the files and all worked great except the help.
I went to \tool\options and entered the help file location and checked the registry keys and all looks good but no help from the menu bar or by tapping F1.
When I launch the foxhelp.chm file from the Explorer all looks great. But it will not launch inside of the VFP6 app.
I finally put a shortcut on the desktop and launch it that way.
Is there a way to make the help file activate from the menu system? The first option of the help menu pad is enabled but contents, index and search are disabled. When I click 'microsoft VFP help topics' nothing happens...
Thanks for any help. I'm guessing I am not alone with this issue.
BTW, all the rest works ok including the wizards and project manager.
Best regards,

There is a command-line to reset the registry settings. Know it overwrites everything related to VFP in the registry. Use with caution.

Good Evening Tracy:
I went into the registry and removed the 6.0 keys. Then set the defaults in \tools\options. The registry is re-written. But the chm file still does not launch. I could not find the command line construct to reset the registry you mentioned.
Oh well. A minor set back. Eventually I will get the one remaining (huge) project with over 200 forms converted to VFP9. All of my smaller VFP 6 apps have already been converted to 9.
It took way too long to get this large project running in Windows 7. I skipped Vista. Only 4 users are on Windows 7 (x64) and the rest are still running XP. But as you know all of the new computers are coming with Windows 7 so I had to get things running in 7.
Windows 8 looks like more of the same as 7 when the desktop is displayed. I guess this will keep me employed a bit longer.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Best regards,
Jack

Now that I'm at a computer with VFP installed, I thought of
SET("HELP",1)
You may only need to set that.
Probably mute now
/regserver
Is the command-line parameter I mentioned early.

That gives you the name of the current Help file.
I think the one you want to set it up is
SET HELP [TO [FileName]]
This is supposed to work with both .html and .chm files.

The foxhhelpps.dll also needs to be registered with REGSVR32. Same with
FOXHHELP.EXE /REGERVER, I believe.
