[NF] Running SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio on Win7-64

Folks:

This has me stumped. Installed SS 2008 R2 management Studio from the same

DVD I've used before (burned from MS Action Pack) onto a shiny new Dell

Win7-64 bit. Trying to connect to our networked machine using the same

settings as our previous Win7 32-bit machine never successfully connects,

and I'm stumped as to why.

The connect dialog sees and displays the server name. We use SQL Server

authentication and the identical user name and password we used on the

other machine.

I have, separately, set up 32-bit ODBC connections and 64-bit ODBC

connections to access the data from our Foxpro apps, and that seems to work

okay.

Dropped the Windows Firewall. No change.

Drawing a blank. Suggestions?
