Scholars doubt that the text translates to that expression.

It is thought that the word "camel" really should be "rope". Also to
continue the text. It says that man cannot get to heaven by himself but can
do so only through God.
The implication is that being rich does not automatically condemn one to
hell and in fact there is no scorn heaped on a rich man. It is only
suggested that a rich man may become so arrogant that he can get to heaven
by good works, etc., and not be required to believe.
