If the cars *couldn't* be operated unsafely . . .

What would it take? They all have computers already, just write some new

software. Have GPS tell the car where it is, have the clock tell it what

time, have sensors tell it the traffic and weather conditions and the

car would be limited to a safe speed, even with the pedal to the metal.

No more idiots speeding in neighborhoods or parking lots! Retrofit older

cars as a condition of issuing tags.

Why? Economy standards are causing fatalities.

Tamper with it and serve a lengthy prison term. Help someone tamper with

it and lose your mechanic's license plus serve jail time. That and lose

your driver's license forever.
