RE: [NF] http://duckduckgo.com replacement for google.com

My problem with google in the fact that when I search for something it

always returns something for sale in the top of the list no matter that I

asked for review or something else. I have to scroll down a couple pages to

get the link I was looking for.

I've always been reluctant to get too worked up about 'net stuff,

especially a free service.... Google has been giving me a nearly spam

free email account for years... so what should I care (too much) about

some ads showing up that I never bother to even notice let alone click

through...

OTOH, since this conversation started I've been paying attention to what

the ads are saying and I gotta admit it is a bit creepy to see what they

must be doing with my email, and how FAST they do it...

Sent myself a link on making home applicances last longer, and as soon

as I clicked Send an ad for Sears showed up, hit F5 to reload the page

and Electrolux (vacuums) showed up... F5 again and an ad for 401K

management services appeared - the prior email I had sent was on my

401K...

Free yes, but still rather creepy...
