Actually, it was the first message in the "Still problems with Text & indices" thread, from 19 April.
The problem showed up consistently when I created an empty database, added 100,000 records with empty Text fields, and then updated those empty Text fields with data. The new data was _not_ usually very large -- usually 1K to 4K, with occasional records with 16K or 32K.
After updating 30,000 records or so, the updating begins slowing down dramatically, so that it takes a good minute or so to add even a few words to an empty Text fields.

What I was doing seldom involved fields of that size. I suppose I could figure out a way to set up a test if you needed it, but it would take a while.
I _am_ preparing to test the devil out of long VarChar fields, however.
If you still would like extra-long Text fields tested in a few days, please let me know and I'll see what I can set up for you.
