Hmm, attached are icons that I have been using for myself for a quite some
time. They are not so fancy as Dan's, but may be they can contribute some
ideas.

>1) I LIKE in vdb and dat icons idea of 1 and 3 data backs.

But those "data backs" are not that meaningful, Ruslan. I gather you refer
to having a triple document icons within a single icon. This can be
confusing. Normally, such icons indicate that there are multiple
projects/data sets inside. This is technically true for some V files but it
is an internal feature that does not need to be so visibly advertised. The
icons are not for you but for us :)

I vote for removing those extra backs.

>2) what means blue circle on BLOB icon ?

Well, I gather it is a blob :) "Blob" is a real word in English. According
to Webster Distionary a blob is:

1 a : a small drop or lump of something viscid or thick
1 b : a daub or spot of color
2 : something ill-defined or amorphous.

Anyway, this blob is a better idea than the movie thing currently used
since BLOB files can have quite different content type. May be the blue
spot can be made a bit irregular to add a character.

Having the minature of the application icon is indeed required to visibly
bind the document icons to the program. Using letters to identify file
types is not needed and misleading if less than 4 files are used. I would
retain the traditional bent corner of document icons as well.

One thing for you, Ruslan, to consider is to have a different icon (and so
filetype) for the combination file that has all files inside. I would still
not use multiple "data backs" for it, and not necessarily combine elements
from other icons.
