Hmm, that's 2 votes for a new HD. I've already done step one. (backups)

It might not actually be failing - it's less then 2 years old, and there
was some heavy duty power failures that night, so something might have
gotten dings. I'll start to actively monitor the drive (with the
spinrite tools) and at the first sign of any additional failure I'll
start the HD replacement.

In the meantime, I was going to use Linux DD to image, but noticed you
mentioned PartImage. Any particular reason, or just experience?
