I've been reading this thread for some time and a few things have occurred to me:
1. Why would I ever want Vista on any machine?
2. Y'all may be giving M$ way too much credit thinking this and that file placement is some sort of grand design toward some kind of benign or nefarious purpose that is way beyond the understanding of mere mortals. I think it may just be third world logic applied by some of the cheaper programmers M$ hired... whether in the slums of Calcutta or imported as servants to Silicon Valley.
