Here is a good read about what has happened to the national debt since
the Neo-conservatives took over the Republican party; yet most people
still think Democratic "Liberals" are the financially irresponsible
party. LOL The Neo-conservative have done a better job of labeling
Democrats as big spending "Liberals" using Machiavellian tactic to
criticize and attack the"Liberals" for being the very thing they
themselves are.

The big difference is the Democrats advocate spending for things that
are good for the country like social security, health care, a clean
environment, etc, while the Neo-conservative Republicans advocate
spending on preemptive war, terrorism, military buildups, and closer
surveillance/spying on the general population.
