Hmm, I do not see any way. This is requirement of SQL 92 and we do follow it.
MySQL is often mess-maker. Although we also did this mistake in 2.x > I would change the varchar to string but not a option with mysql?
You mean if mySQL can live with VarChar ? Yes for them better is VarChar here.
