There are other ways to socialize. If I wasn't currently driving three
hours per day I would like to go to user group meetings and local
business functions. The people I want to be getting to know are my
prospective clients.
You can develop good bonds with coworkers through occasional F2F
meetings and electronic communications. I does not all have to be done
by burning up fossil fuel and planting your butt in the chair in the
next cubicle.
I look forward to the day more of us stick a webcam on our desks and add
more visual communications to our correspondence.
