Actually, having picked up a non-blue tooth wireless earpiece for my two-line phone base unit, and enjoying a 300' range of mobility while either being on the phone or being able to answer while remote from my main computer room, has caused me to lust for blue tooth on my cell phone. There are times I find myself leaving the wireless earpiece on my ear when not talking to anyone simply because I can so quickly answer the phone (either line). Further, I find myself loving the ability to continue working on whatever project without needing to reach any further than the earpiece that is so conveniently already in place (hanging on my ear). So, I for one will likely become one of the folks that "look like idiots" once I select my trusty Blackberry 7510 replacement cellular phone (non-blue tooth capable), and get a blue tooth earpiece for use with the new cell phone.
In fairness, until I got the Plantronics CS50 Office Headset System I felt wandering around with a wireless earpiece would have looked pretty silly also. But once I started to use the unit I no longer gave a rat's ass what anyone thought. I am now free from wires while being able to work with both hands within 300 feet of my office while answering the phone, or chatting with a client. It has been a wonderful tool that until experienced seems nothing less than frivolous. It is just about the best $300 I have ever paid for a telecom device in recent years (same unit can now be had for about $200 on eBay).
