I du no about that. that would appeal to Propeller heads, but I don't see that here.

Not always the case anymore. Ubuntu doesn't have that as part of the default install.

Now you're onto something: "Ubuntu includes more than 16,000 pieces of software..." which all have been 'reviewed' (or something) to make sure they work well together. I really like the whole "go to this GUI, search for an app, check the box and hit Apply" way of installing new apps.
