Thanks. I seem to vaguely remember this site. I'll check that out for
my roaming I/P address.

Yeah, I found part of the problem was that my DHCP server (router)
served up a new IP to the desktop (without telling me :-) ). So I
changed my routing table and was able to get in using WinVNC from my laptop.

The bad news is that yes, the new AT&T is changing my I/P address (it
seems at a whim). I'll check out no-ip.com and see if that will close
the loop.

I did sign up for a LogMeIn account to try it (Thanks, Gil). My initial
impression is that I really need glasses -- the representation of my
desktop screen was TINY -- even at full screen. On the other hand, it
works and is likely to continue working even if ATT moves my I/P again.
I may leave them both on the machine -- if one fails, use the other, eh?
