While I doubt it's as simple as "cured a world of ills", yes, I would
not hesitate to replace the power supply based on your symptoms.

I've also seen (recently) a hard drive that intermittently kept the
system from powering up. First time I've seen that in 25+ years of
hardware maintenance.
